The Stand Westside Veggie

I went for lunch with a couple of girlfriends. We picked the Stand since my friends both work in the area.
The set up at The Stand is pretty simple and they are quick and a good choice for lunch when you don’t have a ton of time.
You stand in line trying to figure out what you want to eat by reading off their large chalk board. This usually works great but it’s tough to read off the chalk board when you are busy gossiping with your girlfriends and before you know it you are up by the cashier and should be ready to order. I was lucky though, I already knew I wanted the veggie burger.

The Stand

We ordered our food, got a number, picked up our drinks and silverware and headed for a table outside. It’s December and Los Angeles, not necessarily the coldest city to be in, but still cold. The heat lamps outside gave out some pretty darn hot heat. I was sitting just next to one and wanted to take my shirt off. A guy came by and asked if the heat was ok, my friends wanted to leave it on, so we left it on. It didn’t bother me that much.

I got my burger and I love how it was wrapped in paper, it’s a nice touch.
The bun was nicely toasted and I am a big fan of sesame seeds.
I suspect the patty was a standard pre-made frozen patty. It was ok. I like it when you can actually see what veggies they have used, and it also had a nice color to it. It could do with some more flavors though. The chefs should not be afraid of putting some extra salt and peppar, or chili flakes on it when they prep.

We need to talk about the onion.
Does anyone like to chew into a whole slice of raw red onion, ever? I like onions and I definitely think it should be part of my burger, but a whole 1/4 inch slice of it? I think two or maybe three rings is enough. The flavor takes over everything and you burp red onion for two days after.

The fries had no flavors to them what so ever. I understand this is a lunch restaurant and they buy pre made stuff, but if I ran a restaurant and bought pre made stuff, I would still tweak it and add flavors to it to make it more unique.
